Hi fam! Some of you know us and our story and some of you are new to us.
on January 10th, my husband was knocked off of 14 ft ladder at work. He suffered from a complete spinal cord injury (T9), a traumatic brain injury and is paralyzed from the waist down. He was in ICU on the vent and then eventually having a trach placed until February 1 when he was transferred to the Shepherd Center in Atlanta. While there, he was weaned off the vent and the trach and feeding tube were removed. He underwent intensive therapy and was discharged on May 16. Coming home, we faced so many challenges. 6 days after coming home he was admitted again and was septic due to a UTI and has been hospitalized many more times since and also did another round of inpatient therapy at Brooks Rehabilitation in Jacksonville.
Our family has been rocked to its core. Not only have we had to navigate learning all the things medically, we are learning an entirely new family dynamic. It has been very hard with emotions so high, as would be for anyone or family experiencing such a traumatic, life altering event.
There are so many things that my husband needs that are not being provided. Our family has taken a huge financial hit as Jon was the breadwinner for our family and would work constantly and never turn down overtime. He has appointments and therapies every week, several times a week that include driving to Pensacola.
The bottom line, we are struggling. We are worn down and we are coming together as a family to ask that you pray for us. Pray for our children. Pray for healing, not just in the physical but a total restoration within our home and if you can help us financially, it would be such a blessing to us and take just a little bit of this weight off of us.
God bless each and every one of you!
