Help Imperial House Residents Recover from Helene
Donation protected
Imperial House is a condo community in Bradenton Beach, Florida. The complex was built in 1970, one of the first condo complexes on Anna Maria Island. On the evening of September 26, the storm surge from Hurricane Helene flooded all of the first-floor units, causing significant damage and rendering all of them unlivable. This is by far the worst storm damage to impact Imperial House. Some of these residents are elderly and live in their units year-round. At least one is in their 90s. The condo association has a master storm surge policy, but many of the residents didn't have a personal flood policy for their personal property and have limited resources.
The master insurance policy will, for the most part, rebuild the interior, but the residents will be responsible for appliances, furnishings, clothing, and all other items not considered part of the structure. Money donated to this cause will be distributed by the Board of Directors according to the need of the residents.
I am from Seattle, Washington and own a condo at Imperial House. I am not on the Board of Directors. Some of the other owners are my friends and acquaintances. Neither myself nor anyone in my family will be a recipient of any funds donated to this cause.
