Restore Hope For Golden Summer After Apartment Flooding

Donation protected

*UPDATE AS OF JUNE 13TH*
The apartment complex is forcing Golden to break her lease and move elsewhere seeing as the damage to the unit is too extensive for her family to reside in safely. The complex refuses to move her family to a new unit, the only options she has been given is to move to a "sister" complex where she will have to re-apply for a new apartment, pay another application fee, and put down another deposit or she can find a new place to go on her own. They will not return her security deposit or the rent she has already paid for the month of June until she has moved out of the unit, and even then it will take 4-6 weeks to receive her money back. She is being forced to move her family elsewhere with no notice, no money, and no help from the complex.

My name is Savannah Bolton and my best friend, Golden Summer, has been hit with hard times for her family. Their apartment fell victim to a maintenance issue on June 9th and she came home from work to find her entire apartment flooded. Her home was not the only one impacted but is by far the worst one impacted. She lost multiple kitchen appliances on the countertops, her and her husband's bedroom furniture and everything that was in the drawers, their bed and mattress is completely ruined, the television and gaming consoles in their bedroom have been completely destroyed, and so much more. The complex refused to acknowledge any responsibility for the incident and will not help in any way. The best the management office could offer was free pizza and bottled water for lunch the next day as an apology for the inconvenience of no running water and possible damages for the tenants. They have only been living at the complex for a few months and hadn't even fully unpacked yet (thankfully) but the damages and losses are unfathomable. The unit itself is a complete health and fire hazard and not habitable but management refuses to help her family in any way. When her and her husband signed their lease, they were told by management that there was no need for them to purchase renter's insurance so they never did. Now that's the main reason they refuse to help her family while in need. If you can find it in your heart to donate anything to help, it is greatly appreciated and will not go unnoticed! Even if you have free replacement items that she could use, that would be a great help!
