Hi everybody. As most of you know by now, Hurricane Helene caused significant damage to the southeast region of the United States. In its catastrophic wake, my dad and his wife were directly affected. Their home resides in Treasure Island, Florida, where the storm surge surpassed 6 feet, leaving their home and vehicles completely destroyed. I am grateful they survived given the death toll is reaching the hundreds and counting.
Although physical belongings can be replaced, it takes a lot of money to do so, and nobody is prepared to have to replace everything that they owned, all at once. With insurance claims in abundance right now, it is unclear how long it will take to receive the funds to begin restoration or if it will even put a dent in overall costs. The stress of losing so much in such a short period of time is overwhelming and unfathomable. I know there are thousands, if not millions, of people affected by this storm, so I understand if donations are few and far between, but absolutely anything is greatly appreciated. The money will be used to begin repairs to avoid any more damage and supply essentials such as food and clothes. Half of the proceeds will be donated to other hurricane victims as well, and hopefully, we can all come together as a community to get through this horrific and tragic time.
