Restore Hope for Families in Westmoreland

My name is Jamielle, and I am a proud Jamaican.

After the devastation from Hurricane Melissa, many families have experienced their lives being flipped upside down right in front of their faces.

The hurricane left homes broken and soaked in not only rain, but tears. Tears due to hard work, memories, and the security of shelter ripped away.

This heartbreak feels personal to me because my in-laws are residents of Westmoreland, Frome & George’s Plain, to be exact. A community my husband was born into, and we’ve shared many experiences together. A once vibrant and rumbustious place, now covered in still brown water, housing drowned pigs and goats.

The community has been damaged, homes left without roofs, and children with nowhere safe to play.

My goal is to rebuild and improve homes, a realistic amount starting with two (2) or three (3), and repeating this over the next two years, focusing on seniors and families with young children.

Together, we can build homes made out of cement rather than wood which they previously owned, providing families with the security to better withstand another hurricane.

We intend to provide clothing that has been donated and shipped in barrels, along with food, books, shoes, supplies such as flashlights and tarpaulins, etc. Preparation is never wasted.

With your help, we can build homes and provide comfort to families that have lost everything.

Will you join me?
I appreciate your support from the bottom of my heart.

May God bless us all.
