Restore Hope for Dad After Total Loss
Donation protected
As you’re all now aware, my dad’s home (in our family since 1949) burned completely down on Thursday, October 31, 2024. The fire began somewhere near the kitchen when nobody was home. My dad was visiting a friend in Wilmington, and he was eating lunch when he received this dreaded call. The homeowner’s insurance policy had inadvertently lapsed just prior to this, and Dad had scheduled an appointment to have it reinstated in the coming days. The fire was a complete and total loss, consuming everything Dad had ever accumulated during his nearly 80 years, plus all the memories & treasured photos of years gone by. This house was built in 1893, and I believe it saw five generations walk its floors. Dad does still have his good truck, a few pieces of clothing that he’d packed for Wilmington, and his LIFE. But at 80 years old, a ‘comeback’ is a little difficult. He was self-employed most of his life, so a pension or some other retirement plan is not anything he has to fall back on. Please consider sharing what you can, or whatever you feel led to donate. We’re currently trying to involve the Red Cross as well, but as you might imagine, while their assistance is greatly appreciated, it can only go so far. Thank you in advance for your help, and we are truly grateful for the prayers, thoughts, messages and kind words. May God bless each one of you richly.
