Restore Hope for a Family of Six in Need
Donation protected
As a family of six, we packed our bags and moved to Florida 2 years ago. Unexpectedly, a week after moving in, we discovered an active termite infestation, water damage, and multiple types of mold. We did all the right things that were needed for buying a house. VA inspection (was needed) as we used the VA loan, WDO inspection (also needed for VA loan), paid for a regular home inspection along with a septic inspection. We went above and beyond, making sure we took all the right steps and did our due diligence.
Our home was built in 1965 so we expected it to have issues, reason being why we went overboard with inspections. To our surprise, we were given the all clear and even the sellers did not list one thing on the disclosure paperwork. Come to find out, the inspectors weren’t properly licensed and some didn’t even show up. Our house should have never passed inspection or been passed for the VA loan. Our house has been torn apart for the past 2 years and we have been in a lawsuit with the inspectors and sellers since a month after moving in.
We have 4 kids, ages 8-17, who have been so positive through this whole experience and have never complained once. Our family of 6 at one point all stayed in the living room towards the beginning of the process. We were able to use the remaining of our savings to put our daughter’s (17) room back together downstairs but the rest of the basement is gutted to the bones. My middle daughter (16) sleeps on a bed in the middle of the gutted out basement and my younger 2 share a bedroom upstairs.
Our septic is so bad that we can look out to our backyard and see the sewage coming out of the overflow pipe. The sewage was initially overflowing into the gutted downstairs bathroom in the basement. We cannot afford to fix the septic as we received a few quotes anywhere from $8,000-$16,000 depending on what they find once they dig it up. We’ve come to the point where we have run out of resources to patch the house up, pay bills, and lawyer fees. It feels like we are barely treading water and it is getting harder and harder to keep going like we are about to drown.
We are a family of faith and that is what has kept us going. We know God has it all worked out and has a plan for us. We are trying to keep things as normal as we can for our kids and still live a happy and blessed life. Our kids know what it means to sacrifice and be resilient as their Dad was in the military and deployed. Our 4 kids play ice hockey and honestly, it has been our escape from all this chaos happening with our home. A home is where you should feel comfortable and happy to come home to but it is getting harder and harder as the days go on. They did not ask for this and neither did we but we know God has a plan for our life. We are just trying to make ends meet while we continue to go through this court process, we would greatly appreciate any donations to help our family in this time of need.
