Help Portland Cottage Recover: Hurricane Beryl Relief Fund

Dear Friends and Supporters,

Mission Gabriel Ministries International (MGMI) is a non-denominational church headquartered in Portland Cottage, Clarendon, Jamaica. For over 20 years, MGMI has been serving the people of Portland Cottage by providing essential items such as food, school supplies, and clothing to those in need. In 2007, MGMI partnered with Food For the Poor to launch Restoration Ellis, a home for the aged. Along with other relief efforts, MGMI continues to support the community without any government assistance, relying solely on the help of dedicated volunteers and donations.

On the 3rd of July 2024, Hurricane Beryl, as it swept across the Caribbean, hit the southern coast of Jamaica as a Category 4 hurricane with winds speeds of up to 140mph. A storm of that magnitude in strength had not hit the island since Hurricane Dean in 2006. Hurricane Beryl has left behind in its wake a trail of devastation: flooding, blockages of roads with debris and damages to infrastructure (such as home, schools and businesses). This devastation has seen many families displaced unable to live in their homes due to missing roofs, windows, doors, or fully collapsed houses and with many losing all their personal belongings including food. As of right now the community remains without electricity, which means the food supplies within families are quickly, if not, already depleted.

We need your help! Our community needs your support. Our aim is to raise $50,000 to aid in Portland Cottages' recovery. Your donations will be allocated as follows:

• Rebuilding and Repairing Homes: Ensuring homes are safe and secure once more.

• Providing Essential Items: Replacing lost clothing, bedding, kitchenware, and food supplies.

• Supporting Clean-Up Efforts: Clearing debris to facilitate rebuilding.
