Help Bamboo Walk Rebuild After Hurricane Melissa

Dear Friends,

As many of you know, Hurricane Melissa has left Jamaica reeling. While the headlines focus on the hardest-hit areas of direct impact, many small communities like Bamboo Walk are also struggling to recover.

I’m Michelle Budhai, and for the past 25 years I’ve lived on and off in Bamboo Walk, where I started a small wellness yoga retreat. This beautiful village has given so much to me — from the taxi drivers , housekeepers, gardners, farmers, to neighbors who’ve become like family. Seeing them lose their homes has been truly heartbreaking.

My own retreat center was spared the worst, though our cottage and kitchen roofs were badly damaged. We’re grateful to still be standing — but so many of our friends weren’t as lucky.

Delgado, his wife, and kids lost their home completely. Gone!

Miss Lisette, a single mother of three (many of you met her at retreats), lost her roof and much of her belongings.

Mr. Harry, shopkeeper, suffered major roof damage — including over the small community computer center.

Everyone is working to rebuild, step by step, side by side. We MOST DEFINITELY could use your help especially before the next wind and rain arrive!

Your donations will go directly toward rebuilding roofs, fixing damaged underground water pipes, power lines, and replacing essentials like beds, furniture, and supplies for families who’ve lost everything. There's no electricity, ph connections and water.

I will continue to update as i get information and images

No gift is too small — every bit helps us bring comfort, safety, and hope to Bamboo Walk.

From my heart to yours — thank you for caring, sharing, and keeping our community in your thoughts.

With love and gratitude,

Michelle Gaia
