Restore Heaton Park Forest School Following Vandalism

Help Us Rebuild Heaton Park Primary’s Forest School Following Heartbreaking Vandalism!

My name is Krystal and I'm a local resident and proud parent of two children who attend Heaton Park Primary School. As a teacher myself, I know all too well how tight school budgets are, and just how difficult it is to recover from something like this without support from the wider community.

Over the weekend, Heaton Park Primary School was the target of heartbreaking vandalism. Our beloved Forest School area (a space where children learn, explore, and grow) was senselessly destroyed. Rope swings torn down. The storage shed broken into and ransacked. Seating smashed. Graffiti scrawled across walls. Sports equipment stolen. The football net ripped apart.

This wasn’t just “a bit of mischief.” It was deliberate, destructive, and deeply damaging - not only to the physical space, but to the hearts of hundreds of children who now can’t use it.

It’s not just playground equipment that was lost - it’s memories, adventure, confidence, wellbeing, and wonder. For many children, Forest School is a lifeline. A chance to thrive outside the classroom. And now it’s gone.

The cost to repair the damage and replace what was stolen is enormous. This isn’t something the school can afford to fix quickly or easily. And the longer it takes, the longer the children miss out on something they love - something they deserve.

As we try to put things right, we’re asking our local community, friends and families to come together and help us rebuild.

If you’re visiting Heaton Park for the Oasis reunion shows next week, welcome. You’re walking into a part of Manchester that holds memories for generations - and right now, it needs a little bit of ‘wonderwall’ spirit. Just a small donation could help bring back the magic to a space where hundreds of local children live forever in moments of curiosity, courage and joy.

Let’s remind the world what Manchester is made of. Community. Compassion. Strength. Let’s show our children that even when people knock you down, others will step in to lift you back up.

Because even after this heartbreak, we still believe that ‘the sun will shine on you’ if you’re standing in the right place. Help us be that place for our kids.

If you can help us restore what was lost, please donate. Let’s show the vandals what a real community looks like.

Thank you
