Restore Health and Home for the Derbes Family

To all who know the Derbes family, you know they are givers. If they see a need, they are one of the first to jump in and help. In the past few years, I have seen my sister (Kimberly) struggle with her health. It got to the point that in many ways she began to show symptoms that mimicked the beginning of ALS. Initially, this was very frightening as our mom passed away from ALS. Through many doctor visits, we discovered it was not ALS but a mold toxicity.
When someone is severely allergic to mold, they can show many symptoms. A few of these are neurological disorders, cognitive abilities become impaired, respiratory symptoms pop up, etc.
Her health was completely affected. Not only was her health affected it began to affect her children as well. Not knowing the severity of the mold within the home they in good faith got a company to come in and remediate for mold. Unfortunately, the company did not correct the problem. During this process they went through their savings to pay for the remediation. This not only included the house but many items in the house had to be given up.
For children and parents this can be traumatic as they say good bye to favorite animals, pillows, and any other items due to the mold spores being in it.
They are on their second mold remediation company who is doing an amazing job. But this caused them to have to take out a loan (in essence a second mortage)on their house.
During remediation the family can not live inside their home. So they are currently in temporary housing and trying to keep life as "normal" as possible for their kids.
Their budget of $100,000 (which was the loan, as savings is gone) was to cover the second remediation company and reconstruction. The mold was so severe that the remediation has taken their reconstruction budget away. They need to replace flooring, sheetrock, and bathrooms... at the very least.
Let's work together to get this family back into their home, as insurance does not cover any of these costs.
