The Story:
On behalf of my grandparents, Cynthia and Buster Hall, and the entire Hall’s Grill family, I am reaching out to our community with a heavy heart but hopeful spirit.
My grandparents are proud, hardworking people who have always carried the weight of their responsibilities without asking for help. Their independence is admirable, but I also know the strength and love this community has for them—and I believe now is the time to stand behind them the way they’ve always stood behind others.
On July 13, 2025, around 2:00 PM, a vehicle crashed into Hall’s Grill, the restaurant my grandparents have faithfully and passionately run for the past seven years. Due to a season of mounting financial obligations—including taking on the full responsibility of raising my younger sister and supporting me after the loss of our mother and the absence of our father, as well as contributing to my upcoming wedding—they made the difficult decision to temporarily pause their building insurance. Tragically, this devastating accident came at a time when they were already stretched to their limit.
While the other parties insurance is expected** to cover a portion of the damage. That leaves tens of thousands of dollars in uncovered expenses, including extensive structural damage, perishable inventory losses, lost wages, and the potential loss of a business that means so much to our family—and to our town.
But Hall’s Grill has never been just a business. It’s been a cornerstone of Roseboro. A place where:
- Hot meals were delivered to the elderly, sick, or struggling—despite never being a delivery service.
- Locals celebrated birthdays, reunions, and milestones in a welcoming space.
- Families in need were quietly supported—no judgment, no publicity, just love.
- Four to five employees were treated with dignity and paid steady wages to support their own families.
- Other small businesses and franchises were helped when they needed a hand.
- Donations were raised not for themselves, but for sick children, grieving families, funeral expenses, and holiday needs.
These acts of service and kindness are what define Hall’s Grill far more than its menu.
Even in the face of this devastating loss, the very first thing my grandparents wanted(still plan to) to do was set up a grill across the street to cook what remained of the inventory and give it to the community—because that’s who they are. They’ve poured every ounce of love into this town, into this restaurant, and into their two girls—me and my sister—without ever asking for anything in return.
So today, I’m asking for them.
They're probably going to ground me (Yes, you heard me right.) but if the roles were reversed they would do it, if the situation called for it…
If they hadn’t already donated as much as they could to help.
I’m creating this GoFundMe not because they would—but because they deserve a chance to rebuild what they’ve spent their lives building. This is our opportunity to give back to two people who have always given first.
If you feel led, please consider donating. Any amount, no matter how small, will help. And if you can’t give, simply sharing this story means more than you know.
With deep gratitude,
Emily Adams
Their oldest granddaughter and a proud part of the Hall’s Grill family
Note:
We’ve also plan future contact with the family of the driver involved and intend to put a portion of any raised funds toward helping them recover from their own transportation loss. This is not just about restoring a building—it’s about restoring lives and lifting one another up, just like my grandparents have always done.
