Restore Gina's Memorial: Support MMIW
I am an indigenous person's advocate trying to help a family affected by the MMIW crisis. I am raising money to replace the memorial of beloved mother, Gina Adrienne Morrisseau-Harry.
Gina was declared deceased on May 12th, 1988. Gina was last seen at a beach party in Fort Alexander, Manitoba. Gina's son remembers that his parents would go out on weekends and he would spend time with his grandparents. But the last weekend Gina was seen, his father returned alone. It was said by partygoers that they witnessed Gina being jumped at the party down near the water by multiple women. Gina's remains eventually washed ashore months later. Despite there being witnesses to an assault on Gina, her case remains unsolved. Gina was a beloved mother and daughter. Her absence is felt to this day.
Unfortunately, for the children Gina left behind, her gravesite was vandalized and her headstone was destroyed beyond repair and had to be removed. Gina's young daughter is also buried with her, her grave now too goes unmarked.
I am asking for the indigenous community to come together and help honor one of our MMIW Sisters and replace her headstone for her children. Every penny helps. A pricing guide of a local headstone shop has been posted. Thank you to everyone who is able to contribute.
