If you know me, you know I do not ask for help often.

I am asking for your help on behalf of a good friend of mine, George Requeña. He lives on Caye Caulker in Belize and earns his living with his boat. George provides fishing and snorkeling tours, trips to Ambergris Cay, and fishes crab and lobster around Caye Caulker.

On Saturday, July 12th, 2025, George and his brother were victims of a hit and run boating accident. Thankfully he and his brother were both okay. Unfortunately, the boat and motor didn’t fare so well. The boat sustained extensive damage and it sat on the sea bottom for two days. While they have recovered both, it is unknown at this time whether either can be repaired. Those responsible for the accident have not yet been apprehended.

I had the pleasure of meeting George in 2019 during one of our many trips to Belize. I am not sure if this happens with you, but sometimes, when you meet someone, you instantly know they are good people. This was the case with George.

I have gotten to know him and his family over the years and have witnessed his strong work ethic firsthand. George even helped our son, Drew, plan his proposal to his now wife, Isabella, on his boat.

Since this boat provides George and his family his livelihood losing this boat for even one day affects him and his family deeply. He relies on use of the boat daily and replacing a boat and motor like this will be very expensive.
