In August 2025, Ellie was diagnosed with diabetes. She currently needs two injections of insulin a day but is feeling a lot better. Ellie developed cataracts quickly in the short time before she was diagnosed. Her vision has suffered, and we would love to see her bright brown eyes again. Ellie has become an honorary employee, at the Court Clerk's office, in the Justice Center in Jonesborough, TN. She is involved in many aspects of the Justice system, from Recovery Court Graduations, meet and greets with the Jurors, and interacting with officers, attorney's and customers, she brings joy to everyone she meets. If you would like to help toward the cost of surgery to remove cataracts, she / we would be forever grateful. Thank you!!!

Cataract surgery for dogs costs an average of $3,500 per eye, with prices generally ranging from $2,700 to $4,000 per eye or $5,000 to $7,000+ for both eyes. The total cost includes pre-operative testing (like eye ultrasounds and ERGs), the surgery itself with intraocular lens (IOL) implantation, anesthesia, and post-operative care and rechecks.
