Rebuilding Hope in Babusar: A Call for Climate Solidarity
Hello, this campaign is launched on behalf of Roshan Diameri, a respected climate journalist and resident of Babusar Valley, whose community has just endured a catastrophic climate disaster.
Last week, the valleys of Babusar, Thak, and Thore in Diamer District, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan were devastated by a deadly combination of glacial melt, cloudbursts, and relentless monsoon rains. The floods have claimed lives, destroyed homes, and wiped out livelihoods. Over 200 houses have been completely washed away, with another 190 severely damaged. Roads, bridges, and water systems lie in ruins. Schools have shut down, and children have lost their books, supplies, and safe spaces to learn.
In response, local youth activists led by Roshan are mobilizing to restore hope and dignity. This campaign will support their efforts to:
- ️Provide essential household items -bedding, utensils, and daily necessities- for families who’ve lost everything.
- Revive education by distributing school bags, books, and supplies so children can return to learning.
- Raise climate awareness within affected communities to build resilience and preparedness for future disasters.
Through this campaign, we urgently appeal to kind-hearted individuals, philanthropists, NGOs, and government agencies to stand with the people of Babusar, Thak, and Thore. Your support can help rebuild lives and foster long-term recovery.
