Help!

Back in February 2024, I woke up beset by the most horrible pain. It was like I had fallen from some high location onto my face. My entire jawline was inflamed.

After suffering in silent agony for a few weeks, I was finally able to cook enough food (I’m a private catering chef for those of you who don’t know) to earn enough $ to get it checked on by a dentist. After paying this dentist $300 for an X-ray, an ibuprofen prescription for the pain, and a referral to a periodontist, i was put on a waitlist until August. After more months of suffering, I got in to see the periodontist & discovered that I have a gum infection, need multiple teeth removed and a lot of dental work done that will take about 3 months in total and cost about $30k. Only within the last three weeks, and by maxing out my credit card, was I able to find any relief when I was referred to a clinic in Oakland, CA by a friend. This clinic performed a deep teeth cleaning that somehow relieved ~10% of my pain.

This set of circumstances has destroyed my quality of life. I, for months, was unable to eat any hard foods or even chew on the left side of my mouth. The pain had me lying in bed in tears for most of my day. I shouldn’t have to explain how difficult it is for one to perform the job of chef without being able to eat or taste food.

But me being me, I have come up with a plan. I contacted an oral surgeon in Latin America where I had some random mouth work done a few years ago and was able to get a quote to get the 10 procedures I need done for about $1100 each on average. That, plus about $3800 for any extra expenses, is what I need to now come up with to solve this problem and finally get back to semblance of life.
