The descendants of ancestors buried in Shiloh Cemetery need your help to raise $10,00 to start the restoration of the Shiloh Cemetery. The Ancestors buried there embody the history of the struggle for freedom during enslavement, reconstruction, JIM CROW, separate but equal and the early civil rights movement.
The tranquility of the Shiloh Cemetery was devastated by urban development leaving it cut off from what was the life and culture of a bygone era.
The descendants need your help to restore this historic monument to honor those who came before and inform those living now about the past.
We need $10,000 to professionally cut and remove all the underbrush, weeds, vegetation and small trees and begin identifying neglected burials sites.
This will allow us to move into the second phase of restoration including:
- completing identifications of neglected graves
- restoration of neglected and existing graves
- building a permanent fence around the site
- landscaping.
Your contributions and prayers will help us hold and preserve this sacred ground to honor the legacy of ancestors buried there.
