Hi I'm Neketia Henry and I'm helping raise funds for an amazing overworked restaurant worker!!
I took my mom to Mimi's Cafe in Elk Grove for lunch today. Upon arriving, it was very obvious that they are understaffed and struggling to keep up with the (small) guest flow. We ordered our food and not only did it take almost an hour to get it, but they were out of corn chowder and our sandwiches were wrong. Our server, Pamela Jo (bless her heart) kept apologizing. She was responsible for an ENTIRE side of the restaurant and there were only 2 servers TOTAL working. She was running back and forth non-stop trying to hold it all together. It got so bad, 1 of the cooks came from the back to help. By this time, I was beyond pissed BUT.....God checked me immediately.
In that moment I realized Jo and the other workers are the ones who actually SHOWED UP. When she came back to our table, I told her to take a deep breath, that she was doing a great job and thanked her for showing up. She immediately started to cry. She said she WALKS 2 miles to work everyday and is trying to save up for a car. Shedding tears, she continued and said people are just being so mean to me and I'm really trying. Both me and my mom started crying with her!!! My mom then encouraged her and told her we were going to pray for her. Jo then said "OMG! On my walk to work this morning, I prayed and asked God to bless me with Christian customers because it is so hard to handle it here."
When I tell you it was a divine interaction!!! Moral of the story is, each day is a new day to be better. I had to check my attitude. When restaurants/companies are short staffed, the truth is, we are really upset at the folks who DIDN'T show up. We all need to show more grace and mercy to those who DID. Pamela Jo said we made her day, but little does she know, she made ours.
Anything that you can donate to help towards her purchase will all be donated to PAMELA JO and I will go live on social media to personally deliver her the check. Thank you all in advance!
