Help reStart, Inc. Replace 10 Family Shelter Beds

Since 1981, reStart's (www.restartinc.org ) goal has remained the same - to end homelessness in the Kansas City community. More than 24,000 people were served in 2014 and of those nearly 40% were children and youth.

Across the country the presence of bed bugs in homeless shelters has been a common problem. With large numbers of individuals and families passing through our doors annually, reStart too has wrestled with this issue. We have policies, on-going training and action steps in place to eradicate the problem. However, for long term solutions and prevention, reStart…COULD USE YOUR HELP!

For our Family Shelter (transitional housing), reStart seeks to replace 10 twin size wooden beds with twin size metal beds.  New beds made from metal complete with mattress encasements help prevent the spread of bed bugs and other infestations. We have costed out each bed  at $250 (quality mattress, mattress encasements, frame, and full bedding). 

Price per bed includes:
- Frame
- Mattress
- Mattress Encasement (to protect against bed bugs)
- Twin sheet set
- Pillow

Our goal is to raise $2,500 by November 15th and secure 10 new metal twin beds and bedding for reStart families. Even small donations will make an impact.
