It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to sweet baby Alivia Reese.
Alivia spent her short life of just 8 months in the care of nurses, doctors, and specialists at the Children’s Hospital in LA. She fought for her life hard and she was so strong. After a long battle, Mommy got to snuggle baby Alivia for the first time since September with no wire, no trach, no feeding tubes... nothing between them, besides Heaven.
Alivia Reese is now resting peacefully in the arms of Jesus.
Alivia’s syndrome was rare. DiGeorge syndrome occurrs when the 22nd chromosome is missing. Somewhere along the way during conception, it broke off. It happened before Breana even knew she was pregnant. 1 in every 3000 babies have DiGeorge syndrome, also known as 22q deletion. There’s over 100 different symptoms but most common are heart defect, low calcium, low immune system, learning delays, cleft lip or palate.
There was never a cure, but we were hopeful that Alivia was going to live a full life. Unfortunately, her family will not get to share this lifetime with her, but they are comforted knowing that they will someday reunite in Heaven.
Some words from Alivia’s mommy, Breana:
“I often forgot she was a Digeorge baby and sometimes even that she had a heart defect. I would get lost in her eyes and presence, it’s like my brain was blurring out the machines and wires. She will always be my sweet girl and I hope to bring awareness to 22qties in honor and remembrance of my sweet Alivia Reese.
Thank you for all your prayers and thoughts. Please keep myself, Dominic, and our 3 other children in your next prayer tonight.”
funds raised will go towards outstanding medical bills and funeral expenses.
Please hold this family tight in your thoughts and prayers.
Rest with the angels sweet girl.
