Hi Everyone, as some of you may or may not know of Manny’s (Juan) passing on Aug 19,22. We are saddened and completely heart broken that we are in this situation to begin with. Manny was taken away from us so soon by someone who chose to use his weapon over words. It was an altercation between the man and Manny trying to defend his older sister from this man who has a history of threatening children and neighbors of color with his weapon. If you knew Manny then you know that he was full of energy and life and was definitely the fun and cool uncle to the kids. With so much pain we as a family are trying to be the best we can for each other and for the sake of Giovanni (Gio) his son who is only 10 years old. Unfortunately and painfully, Gio witnessed his father being shot and also recorded the incident. Gio is going through so many emotions and so much pain that we are accepting any type of help for him (resources, programs, classes, therapy/counseling) Any type of help or support helps us as a family help Gio. We would like to ask for help and support from all of our family and friends during this time to be able to have a proper memorial/cremation ceremony for Manny and to say our final good bye’s to him, As well for legal fees for lawyers as we will be taking legal action. We do not have a date yet as it is still a case that is under investigation as well we will have to possibly take legal action during this time as well. We are hoping and praying there will be justice for Manny because there was no reason for a weapon to be involved and especially for a life to be taken away over a small argument, KPD has two different videos of the incident that were recorded by Gio and the other by Manny. We are asking for all the support we can get for the sake of Manny and Gio. I , Mirian (Gio’s Mom) would like to ask everyone who knew Manny/Juan to please if any of you are able to write a letter big or small to Gio of any or a memory with his dad for him to always keep and cherish, I would appreciate it from the bottom of my heart. Please text me or any of his family members for an address to send the letters to. It breaks my heart to see and hear my son be shattered the way he is and it breaks me even more that no matter how much I or his family try to make him feel better , it isn’t enough and I don’t expect it to. We are all sticking together to help Gio during his pain as you may imagine what his last memory of his dad was, we are emotionally overwhelmed and exhausted and are trying our very best to show Gio that we are here for him always and forever.
