Hi, my name is Tracy Hang and I'm here to tell you about this beautiful soul of a friend name Wu Hsiang Tien, where as most of us knew him as Malai Desveluan. Malai and I met on the tennis courts about 10yrs ago. When you first meet him, you hear this cheerful uppity voice of a man with an accent that you are unsure of its origin and will come to find out that he is originally from Taiwan. He had a bright personality with just enough sass, flare, and an unmatchable vibrancy that extruded positivity.
If you've met him, you'd remember him.
He welcomed all with his presence and never would judge you for your character, no matter how silly, obnoxious, or annoying one can be some times. He is that friend whom would make time for you and be willing to venture you into the the deep neck of the valley just to hike up some mountains or go first up some boulders and help guide you up. He is trustworthy and as loyal as a friend one can be.
On Nov 6, 2021 around 4am, Malai was found in the living room by his dear friends Devon and Rex struggling to breathe and grasp for air. Within a few min of trying to cope him, he stopped breathing entirely. Devon tried his best to give CPR and called for an ambulance where they then tried for 30 min before his heart stopped beating, therefore was then pronounced dead.
Until this day, we still do not know the source of his death. We are unable to get any confirmation until months from now. "We" as in his friends here in LA. His family is still in Taiwan and I can't imagine how they may be feeling or what they are going through, which is why we wanted to create this fund to help pay for the cost of cremation, because we can't afford to send his body back to Taiwan to his family.
As many other 1st generation Asian Americans do when they leave their home land to come to the US is to make a better future so that they can help support those whom could not make the same path. He was that source for his family and now we want to support and show his family he was loved and had support here in LA.
These donations are needed ASAP and will help the cost of cremation/shipping. The rest of whatever is raised will be sent to his family for his funeral service back home. Any amount of donation is welcomed, we just want to help lay our friend to rest at the end of the day with his family back home. Thank you all for taking the time to learn about my friend and thank you in advance for donating if you can.
***The video below is a mere example of his heart and soul. This is the last video I have to remember my friend by and it sums him up pretty well. May he RIP and continue to make others laugh in the afterlife.
