Working Together to Combat Racism in Education

The Anti-Racist Pedagogy Project is a video library showcasing pre-recorded talks by local community activists, students and educators in Montreal and Canada and transforming them into anti-racist educational resources for the classroom. The resource celebrates educators, students and community organizers that self-identify as marginalized and provides tools for educators to integrate the participant's lived experiences into tangible teaching and learning materials.

The videos cover a variety of themes, including, but not limited to, intersectionality, anti-coloniality, anti-ableism, hope and coalition building and range from 15 to 30 minutes in length. Beyond a library of educational videos, the project provides:

  • Student training and professional development in social justice work
  • Sustainable models for integrating anti-racist education into curricula
  • Collaborative and ethical knowledge exchange by providing honorariums to our video participants and opportunities for professional engagement
  • Training for educators in anti-racist pedagogy; and
  • Opportunities for educators to test, action and refine our anti-racist pedagogical models

You Can Help
With your support, the Respond2Crisis Team can expand the video library, covering more themes and engaging video participants throughout the country. Your sponsorship will support our video editor, provide honorariums for the new video speakers and, support the labour of our student interns that recruit video speakers, and design, produce and curate the video capsules, assist with language translation and the platform's accessibility features.

Supporting this project is a contribution toward a just educational system that recognizes and values plural knowledge and incorporates multi-ethnic, anti-discriminatory learning and teaching models.
