My name is Michael Fratkin. Dr. Fratkin. I am a father, a husband, and a brother, as well as a palliative care doctor.
We have built ResolutionCare Network on the strength of community to accompany you when you get really sick. We work creatively to help you to experience the best possible quality of life.
The thing is some people get to have us with them, and some people don’t. Your participation today will allow us to translate these dollars into hope. Every penny gathered here will give access to our model of care to people without a health plan benefit or the resources to pay out of pocket. When we reach our goal, you will have provided 6 people and their families 4 months of care fromour amazing team to feel better and to make their way through these very hardest moments in life.
We've decided to start a GoFundMe campaign on Giving Tuesday because it will take more than one day of generosity to seed a fund for people with a palliative care need and no means of funding such care through their health coverage. For people that are poor and sick and young, they are covered by their MediCal Managed Care Healthplan. For people lucky enough to have the right insurance, they get us too. For five years, we have struggled to manage the majority of our referrals for people for people without a benefit that covers the costs from Medicare or other insurers.
Over these next weeks, we will share some stories from the people we care for. Stay tuned.
This outreach to you, as we begin the holiday season together, is our next best idea to bring compassionate care to everyone everywhere. Next year, we will be building a permanent fund that will allow for tax-deductible donations. For today, please step up with the generosity that you have shown and that has allowed us to care for more than 1500 people and families that would otherwise simply have to got it on their own.
As we all navigate this Holiday Season, please remember that when happiness isn't what's being served up on a shiny platter, make sure you are not alone.
