Residents & Victims of The May Fire, Portland, OR
Hi, I'm Brittney. I managed and lived at The May Apartments in Downtown Portland from 2018 until just a few months ago.
The May was a piece of Portland's history, consistently homing 42 families at a time since 1908. During my time there, the residents of The May became one giant family, supporting each other and forming a large, loving community within... A community that should have never experienced the trauma forced upon them today.
Today, May 16th, 2023, a 4-alarm fire ripped through the historic building. This event instantly deemed around 100 people homeless, many of whom lost everything, including their beloved pets. Fortunately it seems everyone made it out alive, though at least firefighters were injured.
While Red Cross has come onto the scene, these families will continue to need OUR help.
All funds generated from this GoFundMe will be directly distributed to the current residents who were affected by today's tragedy.
