Residents displaced by McAllister and Divis fire

Hi, I'm Marion and I used to live at 1604 McAllister. This building, that housed me and 8 other residents burned down on August 23rd. I am starting this GoFundMe to support the tenants through this nightmare.

9 residents were displaced, including senior citizens and tenants who have lived in this building for years. Most of us have lost everything, from the fire, the smoke and water damage. We were also the victims of looters who took whatever was left in our apartments right as the firefighters left the scene.

We have been provided funds for a few nights' hotel but are now largely on our own to find housing and replace all the things we lost in the fire. Insurance will cover some expenses but it might be weeks or months until we receive it, and this traumatizing event has left all of us without options.

Our goal is $45,000, or roughly $5,000 per resident. This money will go directly to the tenants, and will be distributed based on needs. Any funds raised will go to me, Marion, and I will route it to my neighbors.
