Hey there, I'm Kristen. I am a Cree woman from Montana First Nation, one of the four reserves that make up Maskwacis.

I grew up on my rez (reservation) and proudly represented it when I would travel with my family on the pow wow trail to celebrate and embrace my culture.

On September 25th, after meeting with Chief and Council I was assigned my very own home. This is a bit rare in my experience as most reservations do not have the funds to build new homes to accommodate their growing community. However, this home was abandoned and while it needs a lot of work it is structurally sound and can be made livable.

I am making this GFM because one of the conditions of the home in my letter was to take it 'as is' which I understand that my reservation will not be providing renovations for me.

That's okay because I am a resilient person and am willing and eager to make this my home for me and my family and hopefully my kids one day.

I am currently unemployed due to some health concerns and while I am looking for work as each day I get better I have yet to hear back from a job.
