Empower the Next Gen of Diverse Research Scientists!

Who We Are
Research Girl, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit scientific, educational organization that provides the free STEM resources necessary for students to conduct scientific research, from start to finish. We believe that everyone—regardless of background and/or resources—should have the chance to explore their potential in STEM fields.

In just six months, since our organizational founding on May 7, 2024, we've made significant strides in creating effective programs that give students access to the tools they need to succeed. Now, we need your help to continue growing and reaching more aspiring research scientists!

The Current Scientific Climate
The current population of research scientists is overwhelmingly homogeneous, with 65% being white men (National Science Foundation). Evidence has shown that minoritized and multiply minoritized students are less likely to receive the support and resources necessary to propel them into a STEM career. We strive to end these disparities.

The Research Girl, Inc. Fall 2024 STEM Research Mentorship Program cohort, which gives admitted students free one-on-one mentorship from student researchers and research scientists, identifies as:
  • 91.7% women/womyn/womxn
  • 67.6% Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC)
  • 63% first-generation or low-income (FGLI)
  • 29.6% lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer or questioning, intersex, or asexual (LGBTQIA+)
  • 17.6% neurodivergent and/or disabled

Our Goals
With your support, we hope to:
  • Launch more resources: We intend to develop a scientific journal club where students can engage in discussions. We also intend to organize speaker events featuring professionals in STEM fields.
  • Expand our reach: We intend to launch and sustain local chapters in different cities, offering on-the-ground support to students nationwide.
  • Provide scholarships: We want to give students the financial means to attend conferences, pursue internships, and/or start their research projects.
  • Support guest presenters: We'd like to be able to compensate professional speakers and host virtual and in-person educational events.

How Your Donations Will Help:
Every contribution will go directly toward:
  • Developing and hosting STEM educational programs (e.g., journal clubs, workshops, scientific talks)
  • Providing scholarships to students in need
  • Building out our online resources for students to access career tips, advice, and mentorship
  • Sustaining and growing our operations so we can grow our global impact and reach more students
