My head shave for Target Ovarian Cancer

I'm raising money in aid of Target Ovarian Cancer and every donation will help. I will be doing the shave on Thursday 18th May and will provide updates and a live stream on my facebook of the event.

It's been a hard couple of months. Wednesday 29th March we sadly lost our close friend Lili after her battle with cancer. Even with this diagnosis she still continued to be a happy go lucky girl filling every room she walked into with laughs and smiles. The only girl i know to have just as much passion for Liverpool FC as i do.

Before she passed, lili filmed a video to try to spread awareness and get people talking more about fertility and the menopause (which can be seen her facebook page. As sadding as it was to see this video when it was posted, even now she is still trying to bring some change into the world.

I'm so grateful to have called Lili my friend and wish we could have spent many more years together creating memories! Before her passing i asked Lili about doing a sponsored head shave for target overian cancer this was is the reason i am raining money for this charity.

Target Ovarian Cancer is the UK's leading ovarian cancer charity. Working to improve early diagnosis, fund life-saving research and provide much-needed support to women with ovarian cancer just like Lili!

A message from Lili herself "My name is Lili Harvey and I was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer in January 2022. That February I underwent surgery where I had a full hysterectomy, splenectomy, omentectomy, peritonectomy and partial bowel removal. Majority of the tumours were removed during this operation but there was some left by my bladder and it was later discovered on my lung. The discovery of tumour on my lung meant my cancer was then classified in March as stage 4. Between March and July 2022 I had 6 cycles of chemotherapy and in early August 2022 I was so so overwhelmed and delighted to here the chemotherapy had worked so well and my tumours had all gone. I was disease free for about 2 and a half months before it very quickly reappeared. The tumours had reappeared on my lung and in my abdomen. I restarted chemotherapy but I unfortunately only tolerated 2 cycles of this regime because I had extreme peripheral neuropathy from the oxaliplatin. I am now onto my 3rd chemo regime. I have only had 2 cycles of this regime so far and therefore it’s too early to say how well it’s working at the moment. I am palliative but trying my best to stay as positive as possible under such circumstances.

Since being diagnosed about a year ago now, I have tried to not let cancer stop me from doing the things I’ve wanted to do. There have been some extreme lows for me and my family over the last year but also some extreme highs. I visited Venice, New York and even got married to my best friend (Rob) surrounded by the people I love most in this world!"

Thank you in advance for reading this til the end and for donating to a cause which means so much to me! Lili you will be missed by everyone you met and especially by our uni group, we love you endlessly until we meet again! You'll Never Walk Alone ❤ xx
