Help us welcome Yousri and his family as they escape the trauma of war in Gaza and begin a new chapter in Switzerland
After two devastating years of conflict, Yousri, Rana, Anas, Majd, Osama and Rauf will soon arrive in Lausanne, where Yousri will take up a position at IMD as an Associate Researcher. An ever-growing group of YGLs has worked for months to secure a host country, visas and safe passage for the family. This opportunity offers them safety, stability, and the chance to rebuild their lives. As a community, we want to ensure they can settle with dignity and feel truly supported from day one.
Yousri is a Global Shaper who founded one of the first World Economic Forum hubs in Gaza. He is a respected writer, a human rights advocate, and a driving force behind multiple cultural organisations across the Gaza Strip. His commitment to community building has never faltered, even in the hardest times. He already has inspiring ideas for how he hopes to contribute to life in Switzerland, and we want to give him the foundation to make this possible.
Thanks to an initial fundraising effort, a generous donor has contributed to fund a two-year research role for Yousri at IMD.
On top of this we need to raise an additional funds to help the family cover initial expenses and the cost of living.
We have a second generous donor who has pledged to match the first USD 25,000 we raise within our community. This matched support will help cover the essential start-up costs the family will face as they begin their new life.

- Flights from Jordan to Switzerland
- Temporary housing and deposits while the family completes administrative formalities and secures a permanent home
- Initial rent and basic furnishings to create a stable living environment after years of displacement
- Health insurance and medical checkups, which are mandatory upon arrival
- Language courses to help the family integrate, access services, and participate fully in community life
- School-related costs for the children, including supplies, transport, and integration support
- Public transport passes until they are settled and financially independent
- Winter clothing and essential household items, many of which the family cannot bring with them
- Legal and administrative fees related to residency, documentation, and relocation
- Emergency cushion for unexpected needs during their first months in Switzerland
