Rescuer Needs Rescue-Save Hunter

Donation protected
Hunter needs our help! Hunter belongs to Nicole and Michelle who run Back The Blue Pet Rescue. They have rescued, treated and adopted out hundreds of animals and now they need our help. Their Chihuahua/Jack Russell mix, Hunter, experienced a spinal injury a few weeks ago. After medications, rest, and K-Laser treatments, he was not getting any better. He started to get an abnormal gait, experience extreme pain in his back area, and as of this past week, he started to lose function of his back legs. Hunter was being seen at San Tan Animal Hospital in Queen Creek and was sent to Animal Medical & Surgical Center in North Scottsdale on the 24th of January. A consult was done and a MRI was suggested. The MRI was preformed and Dr. Passmore concluded that Hunter is suffering from canine intervertebral disc disease (IVDD) which means the disc in Hunter’s spine is herniated which is causing severe inflammation and pain. The disc herniation is on Hunter’s left side of his spine at L1-L2 with 50% compression, which means ½ of his spinal cord canal is blocked. Without surgery, Hunter will continue to be in extreme pain and become paralyzed due to the declined progression over the last 3 weeks of treatment. There is a 90%-95% success rate if surgery is performed. The MRI, surgery and treatment is estimated between $8,000 to $10,000. This does not include the money spent the last 3 weeks at San Tan Animal Hospital for treatment, medications, K-Laser, and X-rays.

If there is anyone who dedicates their lives to saving animals, it is Nicole and Michelle. They desperately want to save their boy and give him the best chance possible at a happy life. Any help would be greatly appreciated and applied directly to Hunter’s surgery. Donations can be made on the Go Fund Me link or to avoid a percentage being taken, donations can be made directly to their Venmo account (@NMVasey). Please feel free to reach out to me (Nicole’s dad), Nicole/Michelle, or Dr. Passmore at the vet hospital. Thank you for your help.
