(Scroll all the way down for updates)
Hello, my name is Anneliese Ringe and I am a 21-year-old college student. On April 23rd, 2025, around 4 pm, my boyfriend and I found a male kitten in Elk's Park (Royal Oak), abandoned, scared, and left to fend for himself. He is a beautiful soul, estimated to be around 6 months old and half Maine Coon. He has been a wonderful addition to my heart as well as the household, but I am in need of financial help. I work for my sister's small business, and while it does pay for things, I am living paycheck to paycheck. Since he was a stray kitten and not claimed, he has been in need of basic care. On his first vet appointment, he was updated on Rabies, FELV, FIV, Feline Distemper, Flea and Tick, as well as general care. That was on Thursday, April 25th, costing $350. Added to that, I have spent $45 on a fecal test and around $80 on supplies. Oliver also isn't neutered, and is in need of a chip for tracking and safety. As a first-time college student and an employee for my sister's small business, this has been hard financially for me to afford and manage. With the money raised, all and every dollar will go towards Oliver's neuter, checkup on May 1st, supplies, and overall care.
Furthermore, on Sunday and Monday, April 26-27, Oliver started showing signs of major discomfort. He started vomiting, which was then accompanied by diarrhea and a lack of appetite. Today, he was rushed to my local vet where I found out he was running a 104-degree fever, which is 2 degrees off from being near fatal. Nearly losing a pound from these events, Oliver was put on fluids, an anti-nausea med, as well as a two-week antibiotic. This visit was $380, furthering the financial stress I am already facing. In the next couple of days, another $300 will be owed for his checkup, which I cannot afford. Anything, even a dollar, will help Oliver and I. Please consider donating, as this money will help keep me on my feet and help Oliver be the healthy kitten he deserves to be. Thank you for reading my story and supporting me through this stressful time.
Edit: Update: 4/30/25. He is eating more today and is running around after his toys. He still has issues with the bathroom however:(. He has a checkup tomorrow. We are almost half way towards our goal, and I couldn't be more grateful. Thank you guys<3.
Edit: Update: 5/1/25 He is having some more bathroom issues and doesn't have the biggest appetite, but he is eating some which is better than none. He has been drinking lots of water as well. His energy seems lower today. Thankfully today is his checkup appointment.
After Appointment on 5/1/25: They said he has a low-grade fever of 102, which is better compared to 104. He also gained back 5 ounces!! He is eating more as well:).
Edit 5/2/25: His appetite is coming back fully! I can also tell his energy levels are much higher compared to a couple days ago. Thank you for all the support!
5/11/25: Hey guys. He is doing way better this past week! He was having issues with his stool, so we switched him to a probiotic food to help with those issues. Overall, he is very active, loving, and such a sweet boy. Yesterday, I noticed a pea sized lump on his right leg. Today, I found two more lumps on the lower left side of his stomach. I am praying that these are cyst's and nothing more serious. I am making an appointment for him tomorrow and I will keep you guy's updates,
