Rescued From The KILL PEN Appaloosa Needs Surgery
"He's just a BABY! They can't send him off tomorrow to be Slaughtered!"
This is what I said to myself over and over this past weekend when I saw photos of a 2 year old Appaloosa gelding waiting to get on a meat truck. His eyes were so kind and gentle, even with what he was having to endure. He had a terrible wound on his hock, and many people thought it was just proud flesh and could be taken off. I'm sure it's why he was dumped at the kill pen. Too much work, too much money to bother.
I couldn't let that happen.
My son named him CIDER... Apple Cider... and we jumped. He's still in Texas, in quarantine on a great farm until he comes home October 18th. He's seen a vet and had an x-ray on his hock. He's remarkably sound, but just needs surgery to remove a bone chip inside that hock so the wound can finally heal.
That's all I want for him. His wounds inside and out to heal.
We have the board, transport home to California and a stall waiting for him, but we could really use some help for this surgery. It's just all at once.
Anything will help!!
Thank you so much, and please follow CIDER's story HERE and on IG at Cider_The_Appaloosa.
