Rescued, but broken. Please help Rosie learn how to be a dog

Hi, my name is Michaela and I’m fundraising for Rosie.

Rosie is an 11-month-old dachshund, and sadly, she’s already been failed.

A few weeks ago, I found Rosie being advertised for sale on social media. There were also suggestions from her so-called owner that she would be left outside if she wasn’t sold. I knew I couldn’t ignore it, so I bought her.

When I went to collect her, what I saw was deeply concerning.

Inside the property, there were multiple animals crowded into a very small living space. The smell of animal urine was overwhelming, and the conditions were dirty, cramped, and completely unsuitable. for any animals to thrive.

Rosie herself was in a heartbreaking state. She was covered in urine, her nails were overgrown, and it was obvious she hadn’t been given the basic care a puppy needs.

She didn’t understand going to the toilet outside and was terrified of going outdoors for walks or even to toilet.

There are multiple other animals still in that property, living in what appear to be overcrowded and unhygienic conditions. I have raised my concerns with multiple agencies, and the situation has been reported to the RSPCA. However, as things stand, I believe the other animals are still there. Even worse, these people have been reported many times before and yet they are still allowed to keep animals.

Rosie is now safe and in the care of Celandine Wood Animal Rescue, a local rescue I have previously fostered for, and as always, they have been absolutely amazing.

With the support of a dedicated foster family, Rosie is finally experiencing kindness, patience and safety, likely for the first time in her life.

But the reality is, she has a long road ahead before she is ready for adoption.

Celandine Wood Animal Rescue have taken Rosie in without any charge, but like many rescues, they have very limited funds and simply can’t cover the cost of the training Rosie now needs.

That’s why I’m trying to raise funds to get Rosie the help she deserves and to build her confidence, overcome her fears, and give her the best possible chance of a happy, normal life.

If you can donate, no matter how small, it will make a real difference.
