Rescued budgie vet bill
Donation protected
Our rescue budgie Gigi is sick and the vet bill is getting too high to afford.
We found Gigi on the street being attacked by other wild birds a few months ago and took her in. We tried finding the owner on bird lost and found pages and sites, but no one came forward.
On Thursday, she started showing signs of sickness such as fluffing her feathers, bubbling at the mouth, making strange noises when defecating, and struggling to breathe. She has a deadly bacterium in her crop called Trichomoniasis. She has been on oxygen for 5 days due to her breathing struggles and additional medication to keep her from declining.
We sent her to the vet, and she has not been home since. Each night she stays at the vet is an additional $250-$500, plus extra costs of medication she is given during each day. The cost of her treatment is currently sitting at $2000 but will continue to go up as she is not at full health and is required to stay longer.
My family and I were not expecting her stay to be this long, and we are extremely stressed as we cannot afford it. We initially thought the bill would be manageable ($200-$400), but the longer she stays, the more stressful it is becoming as the price goes up. The bill will need to be paid when we collect Gigi, which could be another few days from now. We care for this bird and want her to get the care she needs, however, we didn't know it was going to cost this much.
Any donations will help us tremendously.
Thank you.
