On the 14th of December 2018, Pauline was excited as any other expectant mother for the second time, as she has a 3 year old girl, however after feeling really unwell on that morning, being almost due, she grabbed her hospital bag and went to the nearby health center where she was told after hours of waiting that they could not deal with her , therefore she should be transferred to a bigger hospital which Pauline did.It was decided that she needed a Cesarean section . she was taken into theater after 4 hours of yet another wait . It took long so we got so concerned, also because electricity kept going on and off and we knew in theater electricity was vital ,we therefore demanded information regarding Pauline, that's when we were told she lost a lot of blood and had a cardiac arrest which needed immediate transfer to the biggest referral hospital in Uganda , Mulago.
There we were in the ambulance to Mulago and Pauline was unconscious . Wheeled into intensive care unit and her baby to neonatal care unit from that day until now, she has not recovered. she sleeps in and out of consciousness unable to communicate or even see, touch, or recognise her baby girl .
Through all this we have incurred very high medical bills as in Uganda it is what you can afford that will get you what medical care you deserve. Clearly the health system has failed Pauline on so many levels.
Please we can still save this young mother's life, at the moment we owe up to 12 million Ugandan shillings ( £2600).
Then we will need administration fees to be transfer her to a better private hospital with a neurology department , that will be able to accommodate Pauline's medical needs. Her condition is treatable , we just need funds to facilitate the care .
Please stand with us to help this young mother whose dream was to raise her two beautiful daughters , anything at all will be much appreciated and will be of great help.
