My name is Eva. In March of this year I went to the jungles of Vietnam where I had trekked through the jungles, rivers and caves with the support of a guide and porters.

One of the porters was a young man by the name of Son. Son is from a poor family that lived on a dirt road near the homestay where I stayed.
He's 28 years old and has a wife and 6 year old son. His wife was the cleaning lady at the home stay where I lived for a week..

Two weeks ago a typhoon and on going monsoon has ravaged the small village in Phong Nha where Son lived.

On Nov. 1st he was collecting bamboo in the jungle.  He called his wife to see how she and his son were doing when she told him that thier home was flooding.  In an effort to return to them, he fell into a river that was running deep and fast from the monsoon weather.  It is believed that he drowned and was washed away in Khe Tum river in Phong Nha-Ke Bang. Many people in Phong Nha have been in the area around Khe Tum looking for his body. However, due to the bad weather conditions ie: high water, fast current and difficult terrains, his body has not been found.

The Family do not have the money or resources to continue to look for him. A friend of the family, Le Luu Dung, the amazing man who's home I stayed in and whom also employed Son, is asking for help for the family. Any donation is very very helpful for this poor family. They need to buy food and equipment for the rescue team who is working day and night in a very remote and inhospitable jungle.

Once the search has been concluded, the money will be wired to the family.
