Rescue Tales: Saving Israel's Furry Friends

Hi there! My name is Chloe Hason and I'm a 12-year-old girl with a passion for animals. I'm writing to you today because I want to make a difference in the lives of pets affected by the recent terrorist attack in Israel as part of my mitzvah project.
When I heard about the devastating events that occurred on October 7th, my heart broke not just for the people, but also for the animals who were left stranded or injured in the chaos. I couldn't stop thinking about how scared and helpless they must have felt.
That's why I've decided to start this GoFundMe campaign—to raise money to support the brave volunteers, like Ben Ozeri, and Dr.Shira Yashphe who are working tirelessly to rescue and care for these animals. Since October 9, Ben Ozeri has been digging through the rubble of Kibbutz Kfar Azar, Kibbutz Be'eri, and Kibbutz Nir Oz looking for missing dogs and cats. When asked why he is risking his life to save animals, Ben—who runs a non-profit pet shop—said: "Animals in this situation are completely helpless. It's a warzone, and nobody else is going to help them except me." Dr. Shira Yashphe, co-founder of Dogs and Heroes, began rescuing animals that were displaced during the surprise attacks by Hamas on Israel. Yashphe says the group needs longtime support to rescue all the animals that need medical attention or may have lost their families during the attacks.
Every dollar raised will go towards providing medical treatment, shelter, food, and other essentials to help these furry friends recover from their traumatic experiences and, whenever possible, reunite them with their families.
I'm excited to share that 1/3 of the donations will go towards supporting Ben Ozeri's efforts, another 1/3 will go to Dr. Shira Yashphe's organization, and the remaining 1/3 will be allocated to reuniting a family with their beloved dog and cat. After being forced to leave them behind during the attacks, the family flew to LA, unable to return. Over the past five months, they've tirelessly searched for their pets and finally found them safe with foster families in Israel. With your help, we can bring them home and reunite them with their loving family.
As a young animal lover, I believe that every life matters, whether it's human or animal. By coming together as a community, we can show our support for these innocent creatures who have been caught up in the aftermath of such a tragic event.
