Rescue My Friend June

Meet June. June is one of the most honest, friendliest, genuine people I have ever met. I love her like a daughter. I love how she loudly sings when she's happy. I love how she re-reads her favourite novels, even when they're ridiculously long. I love how she's always concerned about everyone else's happiness, even at the expense of her own. She is impossible not to love. She's also extremely shy, so with her permission, I'm telling her story.

 

June is stuck in a terrifying situation, where she is living with an ex-boyfriend who is very interested in finding worse and worse ways to hurt her. I've watched her stress turn to fear as he's gotten more and more aggressive. I've held her in my arms as she cried, "I don't want to go home!" But she had to. I'll explain why.

 

This is Bob...

 

 

Bob has been with her for 20 years and is a bestest friend. Bob is the reason why she can't just go to a women's shelter or run away somewhere. Bob requires a particular kind of bird-safe home (no fragrances, nothing that he could find and swallow, no plastics that he could chew on and get sick, no cats, etc.) The man she's been living with has recently started speaking more aggressively about Bob in vaguely threatening ways.

 

So June needs to get her and Bob out of that place as soon as possible. The problem with that plan is money. Moving out would require first and last month's rent, damage deposit for having a pet, the cost of actually moving, etc. I've told her that I would chip in every month to help ease the pain of paying rent on her own, but I don't have the burst of cash needed to get her out of there.

 

I've spent hours going over various plans to get her somewhere safe, and moving out is the only way for her and Bob. I'm scared for her. I'm scared for Bob. I feel helpless as I'm unable to do anything to fix this for her. So I'm asking for your help. Begging even. Please help my dear friend, June. This whole thing has become such a scary, stressful nightmare for her.
