Rescue Good Boy: Injured and in Need

Hi, I’m Laurel. This is “Good Boy”. He has been on the streets for a long, long time. He hangs around my work sometimes. About 2 months ago, I started trying to gain his trust. I have been feeding him daily and making sure he had water in the heat of summer. He is the most gentle and sweet boy. He is a purebred Blue Heeler. My plan was to get him placed with a rescue.

But last week, I found him hiding under the stairs at my factory, waiting to die. He was attacked by some other dogs, and he has suffered some horrible wounds. I’m really not sure how he survived.

His wounds were several days old and infected. Some of the larger wounds had maggots in them.

This sweet boy trusted me to pick him up and put him in my car. I took him straight to a vet, and he has a long road ahead.

Right now, his bills are about $1200, but I expect that to grow. He is doing so much better, but he is not out of the woods. It is all that much harder to heal when you have been a stray without proper care for so long. But he is tough. I am paying his bills out of pocket, and he is home safe with me. He is safe and sheltered and well-fed for the first time in years. But I was not expecting this and could use any help at all.
