Rescue from the wildfire: Starrfish Equines

***Scroll to see all the photos***

These are my friends Julie Starr & Jim Hash. They live in Otis, OR.

They're big hearted, and selfless individuals, who would never ask for anything.. so I am asking for them, because I know they won't, and they need help.

They made it out of the Echo Mountain Complex fire with their lives, the clothes on their backs, their dog "son" Theo, and their 3 rescue horses.

Unfortunately, like so many others, they lost their home, vehicles, barn, fences and all of their outbuildings.

They're expecting that some of Jim and Julie's personal needs are going to be met by their insurance company.

But their horses don't have any insurance! Starrfish Equines is a non-registered rescue facility (so contributions are not tax-deductible); currently with a small herd of unrideable senior Arabians.

The intention is to let the horses live out their lives in peace until they have a "soft landing" at home. But they've lost that home. It's a miracle they survived!
The Sheriff's posse literally rescued them out of the flames that surrounded them for *two* days, and now they're in foster care.

But they need to come home, so the horses will need a proper stable and new fences. The fire has allowed an opportunity to expand their "living room" by burning up all the undergrowth, so they'll have more space to roam in.

In addition to the barn, and fencing itself, halters, lead ropes, grain and grain cans, troughs, medications, grooming supplies, etc. will need replaced, as all were lost.

No amount is too small, as it all adds up.
But if you cannot donate money - building materials, or time/labor to rebuild would be amazing as well.

If you cannot do any of the above, I thank you for reading their story, and ask you to please SHARE this.

Please help to give them a fresh start in the best home that Adele, Nutmeg, and Solly have ever had!

Thank you!

This is the devastation the fire caused.
