Feeling extremely defeated....

Mya has been missing since 5/25 at noon, last seen near Bay Oaks Recreation Center on Fort Myers Beach, FL after the beach umbrella that she was tied to caught wind and blew, causing her leash to become untied from the umbrella. She got spooked and ran.

Douglas Seitz and I have searched tirelessly, posted street signs, hung 150 flyers, and even left her bedding, favorite bones, and a bowl of food near where she disappeared outside Bay Oaks Recreation Center (we pray no one steals it or removes it). We have not seen any signs of her harness and/or leash that was attached when she ran off. There have been no sightings of her since her disappearance. We have called every shelter/ vet/animal rescue in the area. We went in person to the LCDAS to be sure she wasn't there. There have been strangers searching for her on the beach even when we are not there. We are working with Lori Briggs to find her, a professional dog catcher. While searching for Mya, we managed to rescue and return a lost dog.

We are not sure if someone picked her up and saw how sweet she was and chose to keep her selfishly. We hope that is the case, because if not, then we fear she may be caught in the mangroves hungry...
