Hi all,
We are looking to raise funds to help pay for an emergency surgery for this incredibly sweet dog with a broken leg that one of us (Alex) found limping in the snow on the side of the road in Frazier Park, north of Los Angeles. Please see her story here: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT2MkH21c/
In Alex's own words: "On Saturday, February 1st, I was on my way home from a horseback riding lesson in the Frazier Park area. In the mountain pass, I spotted a dog limping on the side of the road in the snow, a good 20 minutes from any service or homes. I immediately pulled over and the cold, wet dog looked in my eyes with such despair, I knew she needed help. And if that wasn't clear enough, she hobbled towards the back seat of my car."
We tried getting her help through the shelter system, but x-rays determined that her fractured femur was too severe for them to handle.
An emergency vet at Kinder4Rescue advised that if she didn't have surgery ASAP she might lose her leg, so we decided to pull her out of the shelter and pay for the surgery ourselves. Luckily, this gentle girl is now recovering after her successful surgery and is home with us.
While we continue to search for a possible owner (no chip was found), we are committed to fostering her as long as it takes for her to recover and find her forever home. Any donation you can make will help cover the cost of the surgery, supplies to help with recovery, and anything else needed to make her life a little more comfortable after the trauma she has been through.
For full transparency here is a breakdown of the expenses Alex has put on her credit card:
Vet bill (surgery, stay, and medication): $2822
Pet store supplies (crate, diapers, food, treats): $237.66
Pet supplies from Amazon (bed, food, treats, toys, bathing wipes, bowls, dental chews, blanket): $203.03
License fee: $20
We anticipate these future expenses:
X-rays to check progress of fracture repair: $350
Surgery to remove pins from femur: $1500
Spay medications: $95
More dog food: $50
We have only known her for a few days, but we can already tell that she is a special dog. Even with all she's been through, she has shown a deep love for cuddles, pets, belly rubs, and giving kisses.
Thank you so much for your support.
-Alex, Emma, and Adam
