Rescue dog needs amputation

Meet Lucky.
I call her Lucky because she is lucky to be alive and we are lucky she came into our lives. My daughter and I have tried for days to get close to her. We noticed she was hurt but too scared and abused to get close. She is so skinny and scared. Emily and I sat with her in the woods for 2 hours but still could not get her to our barn for shelter. I cried when I got close to her and saw the condition she was in. How can anyone abuse a helpless animal? A friend helped us get her to safety. That night Dec 23 a storm came. There was no way Lucky would have survived a night in it. Em and I nursed her and fed her. Finally she was in a safe place probably the first time in her short life. The vets were closed due to the holidays. Dec 26 we got her to the vet. Lucky's leg Xrays shows a shattered leg. It has to be amputated. There is no way to save it. The reason.... she was SHOT!!!!!!
I was not looking for another dog, but there is no way this puppy is leaving our family! The vet said she is about a year old so we decided her birthday will be DEC 25.
A miracle! She is anemic, malnutritioned, has hook worms and a shattered leg. I am willing to do all I can for this precious pup, but need a little help please.
Even in all her pain she tries to wag her tail and wants us to love on her all the time. I know the amputation surgery, meds and vet bill is going to be high, something I wasn't quite prepared for at ths time.
Lucky goes back to the vet Wednesday. The vet will see how she is doing and hopefully we will have the surgery then. Anything you can do to help me with Lucky's road to becoming a healthy happy pup is greatly appreciated! Until then, please keep her in your thoughts.
Sincerely,
Davonne, Em & family
