Rescue Dog, Genesis, Needs Our Help

Hi! My name is Gloria. I’m the human behind the IG account @mallowhusky. I’m creating this GoFundMe for a sweet and deserving dog named Genesis, who I helped rescue at the end of August 2024 from a high-kill shelter in Southern California.

3-year-old Genesis almost lost his life at this shelter and was saved at the very last minute. Ever since then, he has been eternally grateful and showing all the wonderful people in his life who stepped up to foster him so much love and affection every day.

Genesis is a wonderful dog who is just absolutely perfect in every way except one. He is loving and affectionate with people, from little kids to seniors. He just loves to be loved, and he thinks pets, belly rubs, and cuddles are the best things in the world. He loves to play with toys and loves to play fetch. He is eager to please his humans and is so, so smart. He is calm and relaxes easily in a home environment and can stay home alone with no issues. He is potty trained, crate trained, and muzzle trained.

His one issue that needs training is he has big negative feelings about other dogs. He is very unsure and nervous around dogs, which manifests into behaviors like leash reactivity. If a dog that he does not know gets too close to him, he will display behaviors like pulling on the leash, lunging, and snarling in an effort to create space from them. Sadly, these behaviors have gotten worse recently when he was approached by an off-leash dog while he was on leash (in an area where dogs are supposed to be leashed), and he bit the other dog. The other dog is okay but needed stitches. But ever since this incident, he has become more fearful of dogs (understandably) and is quick to pick fight over flight when scared.

I want to find Genesis the very best forever home, but he needs professional training to get there. He needs training for his reactivity; he needs training to change his feelings about other dogs; he needs training to make better choices when he is nervous and scared (i.e., picking flight over fight).

I have heavily researched trainers and will find the best for Genesis, one that trains humanely without force, pain, or intimidation. One that will help CHANGE his feelings about other dogs, not just suppress those feelings.

Please consider donating for Genesis’ training (no amount is too small) so that he can become the best version of himself and finally find the forever home that he’s been dreaming of, that we’ve all been dreaming of for him.
