Disabled cat dad needs Support for ill rescue kitties
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Anthony, and I’m fundraising to pay off the overwhelming credit card and CareCredit debt I’ve accrued from emergency and ongoing vet care for my two beloved rescue cats, Piper and Avernus. Both of them have chronic medical issues that have required urgent care, specialized diets, frequent vet visits, testing, and medications. I’m doing everything I can to give them the care they need, but I simply cannot keep up on my limited fixed income as a disabled individual.
Piper's Ongoing Struggles:
Piper has painful, chronic urinary cystitis, which causes her to urinate blood and cry in pain. Her care has required:
Urinalysis, urine cultures, X-rays, and exams
Prescription urinary food (avg $120 every 6 weeks)
Pain medications including Gabapentin
Hydration support supplements
Repeat vet visits due to flare-ups
She also battles chronic Feline Herpes Virus (FHV) symptoms, which cause mucus buildup, sneezing fits, wheezing, and thick eye discharge that sometimes glues her eyelids shut. Because she can’t eat most foods due to her urinary condition, she can't take the normal lysine supplement treats used to help manage her FHV.
Avernus's Medical Challenges:
Avernus, my younger rescue, has:
Asthma, confirmed by professional X-ray diagnosis and video-recorded attacks
Ongoing GI issues with chronic diarrhea and vomiting
FHV, like Piper, causing eye/nose discharge and congestion
Recently needed an emergency vet visit for breathing attacks so severe I thought I might lose him
His asthma care has included:
Emergency visits totaling $1,450.38 (two vet visits + full diagnostics and labs)
Emergency inhalers purchased locally for $389.88 to stabilize him
Additional medications pending based on blood work, PCR results, and response to treatment
Upcoming follow-up X-rays to monitor his lungs
What We've Spent So Far:
Piper’s ongoing medical care: $2,000+ over the past several months
Avernus’s recent asthma emergency: $2,023.21 and counting
Prescription food, supplies, supplements: hundreds more
➡️ Total debt from vet care: $4,000+ (maxed out credit card + CareCredit)
I had to choose between rent, groceries, and vet care, and I chose care. I’ve skipped meals, gone without, and am now deeply in the negative, but I don’t regret it. I made a promise to my babies when I rescued them that I would fight for their comfort and health—and I still am.
If you're able to donate, even a few dollars makes a difference. If you can’t give right now, just sharing this link or keeping us in your thoughts helps so much.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for being here.
