Rescue Biomassive's Rig

Donation protected
Biomassive is an electric jam band from Traverse City, MI. For the last seven years they have played countless shows across the United States. Grassroots, without any label support. Taking on numerous hats, per band member, to propel themselves into a notable foothold of the midwest. They’ve not taken a payout in over three years as every single dollar has been re-invested into either production to improve their experience or mainly repairs on their transportation. They’ve found themselves in an urgent and potentially insurmountable obstacle.

In early 2019, while performing in a local bar, a bartender of the club they were playing,  smashed head on into the van, in a tiny parking lot, causing the vehicle totaled. Not having another option, the band brought it to a shop and told them to do what they could to keep the van alive. Even doing so, it was a  $4,000 repair, more than they paid for the vehicle to begin with. This van had already served epic Michigan rockers Joe Hertler and The Rainbow Seekers and was used on tour with bassist Randall's production company, shuttling multiple Michiganders across the country for employment opportunities building large scale music festivals. Prior to the it was the MSU tennis club transport vessel. Her name is Maggie, she’s served MI well.

In late 2019, the band was gaining momentum, touring more than ever, when they started experiencing insane mechanical failures on their trailer. Prior to the incident the trailer was in tip top work order,  purchased from legendary Michigan jam band UV Hippo. This trailer has seen more jam shows than your favorite tye dye wook.  After a show in Indianapolis the band hit a curve in a turbulent construction zone, with a loaded trailer, which caused two tires to blow, the trailer brakes caught fire, leaving them stranded on the side of the road. The only tire store that was open sold them two incorrect tires, they made it 100 miles, before blowing those as well. The strain from the incident would cause the front axle to fail. Repairs came in at $2,400 for the week in total, nearly double what they made on that run.

In March 2020 their biggest tour to date was crashed due to the novel coronavirus. Thousands of dollars lost into investments made to prepare for the tour. They gradually were on course to repaying that by multi-tracking their final shows and self producing, mixing and mastering a live album from said shows.

In September 2020, last weekend, the band finally began performing again, outdoor, social distance events to begin to regain some of the ground that they had lost in the aforementioned tragedies. The day started with the final trailer tire and wheel bearing to be replaced, stripping off the threads and falling off on a downtown Traverse City, MI one way street, two blocks away from a shop, anticipating the repair. The day before they were supposed to leave for their first show. This forced the band to downsize their equipment into their sound engineers 5x8 trailer. Two hours later, the band found themselves again on the side of the road, this time from a van tire bursting. All the equipment to jack the vehicle up was left holding the broken trailer in Traverse City steady. They later found a jack, removed the tire and then pressed forward.

They successfully performed their first show, and left the next morning for their second. It was founder Connor's birthday. After a traffic incident they were forced to slam on the breaks at 75MPH with no trailer brakes, causing both brake lines to snap. Brake lines that were already bruised from the numerous incidents of offsetting the trailer  failures.  They miraculously made it to the second performance. The vehicle would no longer change gears due to the brake failure. Thanks to support of their fans, they were able to manually push a 3Klb trailer up a hill, find a vehicle to tow the trailer to a friends house for safekeeping (thank you Stormy Chromer!) and get a wrecker to tow the van to a Belle Tire, not before the tow company had to jam a knife into the shifter to engage the brake..

They just got the news that the current van repair is $1,000 and that it has to be done in completion due to liability reasons for getting the vehicle off the property. If the repair is not paid immediately, the band will start receiving additional fees such as storage. They have two shows this week to make it to… The vehicle, trailer and all of their equipment is currently 200 miles away from home, so towing it and dealing with it later is not an option.

Their trailer is currently in the shop, anticipated and recent repairs are another $1,000.

The band would like to continue touring the country and making people happy. They work non-stop, with no financial gain to do so. They’ve financed every recording, mile and piece of equipment out of pocket to date, but without immediate intervention from their support network, may not be able to continue performing until they personally finance the ongoing transportation issues, especially without the ability to play show or even now stream on Facebook. Multiple members of the band are on unemployed after their jobs were deemed non-essential and barely have the ability to survive on it, as is.

The task is to get them on their feet with current repairs, anything beyond would go to a myriad of other non essential repairs or if blessed enough, hopefully into a safe vehicle for the future. One that they do not have to fear for their lives, every time that they enter it. They humbly appreciate you reading this message and considering a donation, even if it's purchasing merchandise you had already intended on buying.
