Help Rescue and Rehabilitate Athena
Athena was abandoned at my mother’s job covered in motor oil, badly injured. Her right paw is completely smashed and nearly cut off while her left paw is also broken, with small cuts and burns on her chests. The kitten also had a very high fever. In the last few days we were able to bring the fever down, clean her up the best we could, and feed her.
She is a warrior and despite her injuries, she is fairly active and wants to explore between her feeding frenzies and power naps. However, her right paw is completely broken and needs to be amputated as soon as possible, it is infected and it could spread, killing what we can assume is a few weeks old kitten. Athena can make it, but we can not afford the price of the surgery alone. With your help, we can get the money in time for Athena and the extra money will be donated to a local pet rescue.
She is being treated at Kendall Pointe Animal Hospital by an amazing team of doctors and veterinary staff. All her procedures cost nearly $7000. She received her amputation on Friday night (6/13) and is pulling through with the help of pain medication. In a few weeks, she will have the pins in her left front leg removed.
Athena is doing well still recovering from her surgery’s ands she’s playing like normal but the cast is still on and will probably be on for a bit.
