About the Surgery
Hello animal lovers! I have made this gofundme because my kitten Malina recently had to have emergency surgery to remove a pistachio nut that was lodged in her small intestine.
After seeing her throw up all day and getting more and more sluggish, I knew something was wrong and rushed her to the vet. Once the x-ray images came in and they saw that something was stuck in her small intestine, the vet alerted us that this obstruction was very serious and advised that we do immediate surgery or Malina could go into septic shock.
About Malina
Malina and her family were rescued by Alley Cat Rescue from on top of a roof in Van Nuys. and as soon as @cats.without.jobs brought them to our office, I knew I wanted to adopt her and her sister.
Since adopting Malina and her sister Milka in July 2018, my life has gotten so much brighter. They are truly like my babies and give me so much love and soo much love to each other. I can't imagine life for me or life for Milka without Malina. She is so loving, active, and all around fabulous. She is the type of cat that will go up to whoever comes through the door and start purring and meowing for attention.
Her surgery came just 3 days before what I would estimate to be Malina and Milka's 1st birthday (May 10th).
The Expenses of the Surgery
Of course I would do anything I could to make sure Malina was alive so having this surgery performed was a no brainer, but it did come at a huge expense and couldn't have come at a worse time. I recently left my full-time job to go back to school and had to pay all of the surgery bills with CareCredit. Here is both the surgery and vet bill on the day of this visit:

Luckily, Malina recovered very quickly and is doing great so far post-surgery. We will have a follow-up visit shortly to check on everything. My next step is getting her pet insurance, enjoying the extreme happiness and gratitude of having her back home, celebrating her & Milka's 1st birthday, and doing what I can to pay off this bill.
